2 adults, 4-year-old girl killed in head-on collision near Millbrook

NEAR MILLBROOK, IL – Two adults and a 4-year-old girl died as a result of a head-on collision reported south of Millbrook last Friday, July 31. 

Illinois State Police told NBC Chicago that the crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Illinois 71 near Walker Road. Preliminary details showed one driver crashed head-on into another vehicle after trying to overtake two vehicles in front of them.

Three people succumbed to their injuries, and two others survived. A 4-year-old girl, 38-year-old Amy Lee Whitter, and 44-year-old James Whitter, from Des Moines, Iowa, were the three people who died. 

Police have not specified the physical conditions of the surviving occupants. 

Police closed the intersection for several hours to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process and overall investigation.
