PLANO, IL – One person was killed, and three others were injured in a head-on crash in Plano on Wednesday.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred before 1:45 p.m. on Galena Road, west of Clark Road. KCSO believes the incident unfolded when a 49-year-old male driver, traveling west, was trying to overtake another vehicle in front of him, went into the eastbound lane, and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle.
The 49-year-old man died from his injuries, while the driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 38-year-old woman, and her two children were hospitalized for injuries deemed serious and potentially non-life-threatening.
Authorities shut down the road for nearly three and a half hours to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process and overall investigation.
KCSO will release the man’s identity once his family is notified. Officials are actively working to pinpoint the cause of the crash.
The Kendall County Coroner’s Office, Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District, Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District, and the Plano Police Department assisted KCSO with the scene of the crash.
