SANDWICH, IL – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office cited a 30-year-old man after causing an injury crash in Sandwich on Monday.
DCSO told the Shaw Local that the incident happened after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Chicago and East Sandwich Roads. The 30-year-old man, a Sandwich local, was driving a 2011 Lincoln sedan and failed to reduce his speed when he crashed into a 2022 Toyota sedan going south on East Sandwich.
Deputies confirmed that the Toyota driver, a 60-year-old woman from Hinckley, did not run a stop sign prior to the crash and said the impact of the collision left her with minor injuries.
Sandwich first responders rushed the Hinckley woman to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital for treatment.
The male driver was not injured and was issued a citation because he did not reduce his speed, according to deputies.
