Woman, 36, charged after Oswego hit-and-run crash that injured teen cyclist 

OSWEGO, IL – A 36-year-old woman was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a teen cyclist on Wednesday, CBS News reports. 

The incident occurred around midnight off Route 31 and Washington Street. 

The female driver, later identified as Jasmine Smith, from Chicago, was driving north on the highway when she crashed into a 15-year-old girl riding a bike. The teenager was injured and taken to Rush Copley Medical Center and later to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Her condition is currently unknown. 

Smith fled the scene, and 20 minutes later, Kendall County deputies located Smith’s car in a parking lot. 

Smith also called 911 to tell police that she struck a cyclist. Subsequently, law enforcement arrested Smith, and she is now being charged with driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash. 

Smith will make a court appearance on Oct. 6.
